Kapibaara / Capybara

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 15 November 2019 in Animal & Insect.

The capybara is a mammal native to South America. It is the largest living rodent in the world.
Capybara is a highly social species and can be found mostly near water in groups as large as 100 individuals, but usually lives in groups of 10–20 individuals.
They are superb swimmers and can hold their breath underwater for some minutes at a time.

Kapibaara (keda kutsutakse ka nimega veesiga) on maailma suurim näriline. Tema koduks on Lõuna-Ameerika. Kapibaara elab maismaal, kuid on ka suurepärane ujuja ning võimeline isegi mitmeks minutiks sukelduma.
Kapibaaral on massiivne keha ja nurgeline pea, mistõttu ta sarnaneb esmapilgul suure karva kasvanud meriseaga.
Kapibaarad on karjaloomad ning veedavad koos aega kuskil vee läheduses, minnes soovi korral end vette jahutama.
