Suur, suurem / Big, bigger (5) - Cape Enniberg

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 20 March 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Second highest sea cliff in Europe is Cape Enniberg, 754m. It is the northernmost point of the Faroe Islands and you can get there from beautiful village Viðareiði. You can see Viðareiði down in the valley; Cape Enniberg is now behind us. We tried to reach on it but didn't succeed. Years later I read, that from the landside, only experienced mountain climbers with a trained local guide should attempt to scale the cliff. Anyway, views here are most spectacular I've ever seen. Mountain cone on the right is called Malinsfjall (750m).

Kõrguselt teine mereäärne kaljusein Euroopas on Cape Enniberg, mis on Fääri saarte kõige põhjapoolsem punkt Viðoy saarel. Sinna on võimalik pääseda kaunist Viðareiði külast. Viðareiði paistab pildil all orus; Enniberg jääb praegu selja taha. Soov temani jõuda ei läinud seekord täide, aastaid hiljem lugesin, et seinani on lootust maa poolt jõuda ainult kogenud mägironijal. Sellegipoolest on sellel käigul avanenud vaated ühed kaunimad, mis ma kunagi näinud olen... Kooniline mägi paremal on Malinsfjall (750m)

wow, this is truly and utterly awesome! what a view, what colours, what scenery! what i find so fascinating is (a) there are no trees whatsoever, and (b) that despite the dense clouds the colours are always very intense! a fantastic image!
