The Bridges, 6. Narva

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 27 January 2016 in Landscape & Rural.

Highway bridge over Narva River between Estonia and Russia is called Friendship Bridge. It was built on 1960. You can see Estonian Hermann Castle (Narva castle) on the left and Russian Ivangorod fortress on the right side of river Narva.

Eestit ja Venemaad ühendavat maanteesilda üle Narva jõe kutsutakse Sõpruse sillaks ning praegune sild valmis 1960. aastal. Vasakul pool jõge on Hermanni, paremal pool Jaanilinna linnus.

I had the same thought as Franz. The river is way to narrow to have Russia on the other bank.

No doubt a place of tension in the past with the two structures eyeing each other off in close proximity.
