Mägede vahel / Between the mountains, 1

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 3 April 2016 in Landscape & Rural.

This is a view to Longearbyen (Svalbard) from Larsbreen Glacier - small part of the settlement is visible in the middle of the photo.
Longyearbyen is the world's northernmost settlement of any kind with greater than 1,000 permanent residents.
On the left it is hidden by mountain called Sarkofagen, on the right side is a plateau-shaped mountain called Gruvefjellet.
Selline vaade avaneb Longyearbyeni asulale Larsbreeni liustikult vaadatuna - väike osa asulast paistab foto keskel mägede vahelt.
Longyearbyen on põhjapoolseim asula, mille elanike arv ületab 1000.
Vasakult on vaade asulale praegu kaetud Sarkofageni mäega, paremal on aga platookujuline mägi, miilel nimeks Gruvefjellet.

fantastic view! the 'northern' landscape that you show here so well is really a photographer's paradise, with unusual shapes and interesting colours and hues.

It must be cold and dark most of the year. Great shot on a sunny day.

@Steve Rice: It's relatively dark half of the year - and four months of midnight sun here, too.

Darkelf Photography from Perth, Australia

Excellent composition and superb depth as the mountains reveal the town in the distance.
