Diskobukta birds colony, 4

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 19 May 2016 in Animal & Insect.

Colony of arctic birds, mainly kittiwakes on cliffs on Edgeøya, Svalbard near the bay called Diskobukta.

A glaucous gull just stole a young kittiwake from the nest. This gull is omnivorous but in the breeding season they sustain themselves mostly from the eggs and chicks of other birds.

Arktiliste lindude, peamiselt kaljukajakate pesitsuspaik Edgeøya saarel Diskobukta lahe ääres Teravmägedel.

Jääkajakas on just röövinud noore kaljukajaka poja tema pesast. Jääkajakad on kõigesööjad, kuid pesitsushooajal eelistavad toituda teiste lindude munadest ja poegadest.

We all have to survive somehow and the gull has to eat too. Interesting shot and description.
