Ngorongoro Crater

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 23 July 2016 in Landscape & Rural.

Sunrise over Ngorongoro crater. Only sound I can here is from wooden cowbells - Maasai herdsmen are leading their herds down for water. These herds consist of dozens if not hundreds of cows. One legend says, that the cowbells sound "ngoro-ngoro" and this is the origin from the name of the caldera. But also is told, that Ngorongoro was named by the Maasai people as El-Nkoronkoro meaning Gift of Life.
