Aafrika käärnokk / African skimmer

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 27 May 2019 in Animal & Insect.

Skimmer flies low over water, with wings held high and back. It skims water for food with the lower mandible, slicing through the water. When prey is encountered by tactile detection, skimmer snaps its bill shut.
Aafrika käärnokal on põnev viis toitumiseks.
