Hiidsaarmad / Giant otters

Posted by
Vaido (Võrumaa, Estonia) on 7 October 2022 in Animal & Insect.

Giant Otters were once found throughout large areas of South America. By the 1970s their numbers had fallen dramatically. Now it is one of the rarest mammals in the Pantanal region.
The Giant River Otter is also known locally as the River Wolf or Ariranha from the Tupí word meaning water jaguar.
